One of Krew's favorite places to go is Cabela's. With it being right across from our house, we tend to go there often. He loves looking at the fish and then loves to look at the fishing poles. He always asks when he can go fishing. We took the perfect opportunity and took Krew fishing for the first time on Memorial Day weekend. The boys, Grandpa Backman, Jorden, and Krew, headed up to Henry's Lake with the trailer. While the girls, Grandma Backman, Myla, and I, stayed home and shopped, ate, and relaxed! The only condition I had was that Jorden send me lots of pictures of Krew's first fishing trip. He definitely did a good job of keeping me updated!
When they got up there it was pretty cold, so the first thing they did was make a fire and find the perfect "smarshmello" stick!
Staying warm.
This kid and his Cheetos! Pure bliss in his eyes!
Making the perfect mallow. Krew got lots of practice and became quite the pro at mallow roasting by the end of their trip!
Beautiful Idaho Sunset.
The next morning they got out of bed at the crack of dawn to start their fishing day. They went out at 5:30 and were back in the trailer by 5:45. It was just too cold, so they started with breakfast instead. When it finally warmed up a little bit, it was down to business! They were very successful and could catch a fish at almost every cast. Jorden even said after the first 5 or so catches Krew was already bored. Ha! I guess that's better than being bored of NOT catching any fish!
Right after the above picture was taken, the fish's tail wacked Krew in the cheek. Krew was so not happy about it. He kept an eye on it and when they got home and were preparing the fish to eat, Krew pointed to his fish and said, "I'm going to eat that one because he's mean and hit me in the face!" Oh such sweet revenge!
Krew catching a fish. Jorden was helping him out here but he did say that Krew actually caught one completely on his own. Not bad for a 4 year old!
A successful day!
And ya know it's certainly a successful day when you see this in the back seat not even 5 minutes on the road!
Back at home we didn't waste any time and got to roasting "smarshmellos" again.
One of Jorden's sweet concoctions, which was actually quite good! The bottom was a chocolate chip cookie, center was an Oreo and a Reese's peanut butter cup, and it was topped with a crinkle cookie. Ya, I might have gained 10 pounds over the weekend!
Over the weekend Myla went for her very first wagon ride.
I don't think she knew what was going on, but she sure seemed to enjoy it!
It didn't take long for Krew to want in on the action.
It took A LOT of convincing to get him to get in with her. I think it was mostly lack of sleep but he felt like the wagon was a perfect fit for JUST him! Oh boy! The first signs of jealousy are creeping up on us!
We had a perfect night of watching the Heat dominate the Pacers while,
Grandma and Krew were on the ipad looking at all the fun things to do at Disneyland
We got a chance to catch up with our good friends the Halls. Man oh man we miss these guys!!! It was so good to see them! It's great that Quinton and Krew can just pick up where they left off!
October 2012, right before we moved:
May 2013:
Gotta love Leo's place!
The ride home was a little nightmarish. It felt like the four hour drive was a lifetime plus a couple of years. Myla literally cried for 2 hours. We would pull over, change her, feed her, burp her, play. When she was all smiles and giggles I'd put her back in her car seat and it was back to screaming. Like the hyperventilating kind. She finally wore herself out and went to sleep. Sigh...
Besides the drive home we had a fabulous get-away! Krew has talked about it ever since and already can't wait until next year!

Such a weekend fun for Krew! What an amazing fishing hole. I had to laugh at him passed out in his car seat. All that fun is exhausting!
